Meeting Dr. Timothy Leary At Digital Be-In
TimOriginally, the legendary "be-in" guru, Timothy Leary was scheduled to deliver the keynote at the Digital Be-In Tokyo 95. 
So Michael Gosney, the founder of Verbum Inc. who started the Digital Be-in event series, arranged for me to meet with Mr. Leary at a pre-event staff meeting in January of 95.
The very first word Timothy Leary said to me when we first met was "Hey, I like your tie!"  (That night, I was wearing one in a colorful flower print.)  He made me feel at ease with this friendly remark.  He told me that he was very excited about going to Japan.  We only had a few minutes to talk, then he had to go meet someone.
A few days later, at one of the Digital Be-in events, I ran into him sitting on the floor listening to the live music. Figuring he's been meeting too many people to remember the names of them, I was not at all expecting him to remember mine.  But he looked up, smiled, and said "hi, Miki!"  I marveled at his sharp memory capacity and felt quite honored that he remembered me.  Even from this brief encounter with him, I could sense that he truly TUNED IN to what was going on.

Event Profile: Digital Be-In Tokyo 95
Tokyo BeIn Murdoch developed the concept, organized, and co-produced the Japan's first large-scale multimedia event, Digital Be-In Tokyo 95 in collaboration with Verbum Inc., and IDG Japan (MacWorld organizer).  The event was held at Makuhari Messe Conference Center in Chiba, Japan.  At this event, the original Digital Be-In event organizer Michael Gosney delivered a keynote speech of Timothy Leary on video.
